How can I opt out of the AD Scientific Index?

If you wish to opt out and have your profile removed, please contact us at [email protected] with your AD Scientific Index ID and reason for removal.

Why is my colleague on the list, but I am not?

AD Scientific Index currently includes data on 2,625,140 scientists from 24,498 institutions across 221 countries. While this represents one of the broadest samples available globally, it is important to note that not all researchers with a public Google Scholar profile are listed. This is not due to any judgment of academic merit, but rather the practical and methodological framework we follow to ensure sustainable, accurate, and fair data representation.

There are two main pathways for inclusion:

  • Institution-Based Scans: At scheduled intervals, our team conducts scans of selected institutions. These scans are based on technical and methodological considerations and are not influenced by individual email requests. A profile may not appear in the index if it was private at the time, newly created, underdeveloped, or if the sample size for a given institution or country was already deemed sufficient for representational purposes.

  • Paid Individual or Institutional Registration: Researchers and institutions who wish to ensure immediate inclusion may do so by registering through the “Register” link on our website.

We would like to kindly emphasize that automatically including all publicly available Google Scholar profiles is not part of our model, as it would compromise data quality and system sustainability. Maintaining the integrity of the index involves:

  • Multi-layered verification of data accuracy

  • Continuous updates to citation and index scores

  • Ethical checks

  • Monitoring of affiliation changes

  • Tracking of institutional mergers, closures, and renamings

  • Responsible handling of profiles of deceased individuals

Given these demands, we prioritize a manageable, meaningful, and accessible data structure over unlimited expansion. Our approach aims to provide equitable representation for countries and institutions worldwide within the boundaries of operational feasibility.

Additional reasons a profile may not appear or may be temporarily removed from the index include:

  • Hidden or Deleted Profiles: If a previously listed profile is hidden or deleted, the associated metrics (e.g., h-index, i10 index, citation count) may be shown as zero or removed. If the profile becomes public again and has not been permanently deleted, previous scores are automatically restored.

  • Ethical Considerations: In cases involving false authorship, retracted publications, citation manipulation, or fabricated content, profiles may be removed from the system—even if registered—without refund.

  • Voluntary Removal: We respect researchers' preferences and remove profiles upon request.

As a result, some researchers from a given institution may appear in the index while others do not. This outcome reflects the structure and practical boundaries of the system, and should not be perceived as a reflection of an individual’s academic qualifications.

Researchers and institutions who would like to increase their visibility are encouraged to explore our individual or institutional registration options based on their needs.

Why am I not on the list?

Since its establishment, the AD Scientific Index has expanded in terms of the number of countries, institutions, and scientists as follows:

  • May 25, 2021: 417,605 scientists, 167 countries, 9,525 universities
  • June 18, 2021: 700,093 scientists, 182 countries, 11,350 universities
  • June 5, 2022: 948,737 scientists, 216 countries, 15,652 universities
  • October 1, 2022: 1,082,054 scientists, 19,490 universities
  • April 1, 2023: 1,350,571 scientists, 218 countries, 21,500 universities
  • March 9, 2025: 2,509,177 scientists, 221 countries, 24,570 institutions

The AD Scientific Index is continuously growing and currently includes 2,509,177 scientists, 24,570 institutions, and 221 countries. While the list is regularly expanded, new additions are limited to individual and institutional registrations to ensure data accuracy and reliability. Please note that requests made via email or other communication channels are not considered; the only way to be included is by completing either an individual or institutional registration through the 'Register' link on our website.

We do not have a policy of automatically including every profile in the system. This approach is necessary to manage the ongoing effort required to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and validity of data at both the institutional level (e.g., mergers, splits, name changes, closures, license revocations, and suspensions) and the individual level (e.g., institutional changes, profile deletions, deaths, ethical violations, and other updates).

Many profiles have been removed for various methodological reasons, and in some cases, individuals have requested to be removed from the list. Additionally, we would like to remind you that our methodology has brought to light many ethical violations and rule-breaking behaviors, which have been reported by institutions and other individuals, and those profiles have been removed accordingly.

For more information on our methodology, you can visit our Methodology page.

Can I register by sending an email?

No, registration by email is not possible. The only way to be included in the AD Scientific Index is by filling out the registration form through the REGISTER link on our website. This ensures that all necessary information is provided securely and accurately.

How can I track the impact of my publications?

As a PREMIUM USER, you will have access to advanced metrics and tools that help you track the impact of your publications and analyze your academic influence.

What can we do as an institution/university?
